Making an Appointment

The first step in the admission process is to make an appointment with the centre. If you have been referred to the centre by the specialist performing your procedure, their rooms will normally make an appointment on your behalf and advise you of the date. However, if you have been directly referred to the centre by your GP (i.e. open access), you will need to contact the centre to book in a procedure date.

Admission Paperwork

The next step is to complete our admission form and return it to the centre at least seven days prior to your admission date. For your safety and convenience, it is important that you take the time to complete this form both accurately and completely. The centre uses this information to check that you are suitable to be a patient at our facility.  Your doctors will also use this information to ensure that necessary precautions are taken to ensure that your treatment is both safe and appropriate on the day.

Account Payment

All patients admitted to Coburg Endoscopy Centre will be given a fee estimate for their stay at the centre. This fee will need to be paid on the day of admission or services may be denied.

If you have Private Health Insurance, Coburg Endoscopy Centre has preferred provider agreements with all Private Health Funds, including DVA. Coburg Endoscopy Centre will bill your health fund directly for the costs involved with your hospital stay. Any excess with private health insurance is required to be paid on admission. This amount will be confirmed with you on your pre-admission phone call or text.

If you do not have Private Health Insurance, you are responsible for the hospital account payable on admission. The hospital account cannot be claimed through Medicare, as this is a private facility. All patients are responsible for any accounts received from performing doctors and anaesthetists. These accounts are claimable from Medicare and any difference should be paid by the patient. A further cost will be incurred if biopsies are taken – if you receive an account from pathology, claim it from Medicare and pay any difference.
